Min väg till den jag blivit.
Jag fick en fråga på min Ask.FM som löd så här:
"how long did you 'practise' until you get to this point in your band?"
Tyckte frågan var intressant och kände för att dela med mig av mitt svar till mina kära EC-bevakare!
Varsågoda~
I started my first band in late October 2002, when I was 10 years old. We did our first live show some time during the spring of 2003. Since then I've had a bunch of different bands playing a variety of genres, expanding all the way from acoustic pop to electronica to hard rock to black metal. Aside from this, I've studied classical singing, composing and opera for the better part of half my life, including singing in choirs and doing choir-concerts in venues and places you wouldn't believe.
There has not been a year since I started this crazy carousel where I have done any less than 5 live shows/performances, although from 2008 and onwards I would probably say at least 10 live performances per year (minimum).
Also, for the past 5 years, I've been having a personal rule to write 1 song per week from start to finish, just to keep my engine hot. This has lead to me gaining a better understanding of musical genres and styles - and what key elements defines the essence of each.
So to finally answer your question; I've worked, practised, prepared and dreamed of being able to live the life I'm starting to live for the past 11 years. I'm extremely proud of where I've gotten and I have really worked myself to death just to get where I am.
Unlike some other musicians/artists, I didn't have the "luck" of being born into a family with valuable contacts in the music business. When I started I had nothing, no shortcuts, head starts, big money at my disposal or influential contacts in my community. I started my entire musical journey from zero and worked my way to where I am today.
People often believe you can't get anywhere unless you "happen" to be lucky in the beginning (like having a record label guy in your family or something), but I stand here, as a living proof of sorts, that working hard enough and using a little bit of cleverness (or stupidity, depending on how you see it) can really get you places. I'm not even close to fulfilling my long-term goals, but I'm a hell'a lot closer than I ever imagined myself being.
Chase the dream and eventually you'll catch it.
No matter if you trip on the way, as long as you keep running, you'll reach it one day.
Good luck!
